Albert Road Art House

Began in 2019 to provide and maintain quality art supplies in classrooms in Graham and Jacksboro. Currently serve approximately 700 students. All

donations go directly to buying art supplies for the classroom. To supply each classroom is approximately $450. Besides adding more classrooms, the group has been asked to purchase other items for displaying HS art, art therapy through elementary school counselors, and local church youth group activities. Fundraising is through mailers and social media. Last year spent

$3100 in art supplies. Operating and set-up expenses have been donated by founder thus far.

Backpack Buddies

"A community effort to eliminate childhood hunger.” Begin in 2008-2009 school year; 36,957 bags of food so far. Purchases food through Wichita Falls Area Food Bank through the Childhood Hunger program. Serves

Graham chronically hungry children. One weekend bag costs $2-$3. Expenses are mostly food purchases but also have rent, fuel to pick up food in WF, and replacement totes/backpacks. Funds are provided by donations (individuals, businesses, civic organizations, churches) and also through Graham Area United Way. Last year spent $11,000 on food purchases and $4800 on expenses (of which $4200 was rent).

Meals on Wheels

Began 45 years ago by Graham Area Church Women. Currently serve 90 Graham clients lunch M-F and briefly visit with them to make sure the clients are ok. Clients are mostly home-bound and must be referred by their

doctors. Serve 20,000 meals at a cost of $80,000 yearly. 2020 expenditures exceeded income by $12,000. Donations from agencies and individuals via

mailers and newspaper articles.

Young County Child Welfare Board

Established by appointment of the UC Commissioner’s Court to promote knowledge and concern about prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. Financial support is provided to all children in foster care or removed from their homes by CPS in YC as well as YC foster care children who are housed outside of the county. Working through case workers, CASA reps, etc., YCCWB provides backpacks with essential toiletries, pjs, etc (via the Rainbow Room at the CPS office, stocked entirely by YCCWB) when a child is removed from their home and gifts of items and cash for back to school needs, birthdays, and Christmas. Fundraising includes a community-wide mailer and donations from local clubs (Lions and Kiwanis). Last twelve months’ income is $16,945; expenses were $9,480

Young County Warrior Ranch

Founded in 2012 to provide an area for veteran or family members of those killed in an action a facility to use for any purpose for free. Twenty acres were purchased that have a bunkhouse and fellowship barn. Expenses are upkeep and insurance for the facility and events for veterans. Revenue is through donations and the annual Helicopter Hog Hunt and occasional golf tournament. Expenses are $1,500 per month minimum for operations.
